Class of 2005 center Kendrick Johnson was at one point a Texas Tech commitment, but eventually parted ways with the Red Raiders and has since been back out on the open market. The opening has prompted schools such as Minnesota, Baylor, and Purdue to offer the Morton High School product a scholarship.
"I have interest from Minnesota, Purdue, and Baylor and my coach says some other schools are showing interest," said Johnson.
Johnson has not visited any schools so far, but intends on taking official visits to Minnesota, Purdue, and Baylor before the early signing period.
While Johnson claims to be wide open at the moment, he does know what he is looking for in a school.
"The first thing I'm looking for is academics, then early playing time," explained Johnson.
Last season, the 6-foot-10, 230 pounder averaged 20 points, 15 rebounds, and 4 blocks a game which helped him garner 1A All-State honors.
Despite coming off a good season, Johnson is looking to expand his game for his senior season.
"I am working on improving my ballhandling right now," remarked Johnson. |
